I just do the conversion in PS. But even so there are many way to do it. It's all a matter of how you are feeling at the time. You can download conversion "actions" from this site for free and play play play....

Hi Ron, I think you've got good skin tones here and lots of detail. A lot depends on the program you're using, too, as to how much control you've got over the tones etc. I guess it is personal preference and experimentation, which is what I'm doing now, too.
Thanks for your comments on my snowboarder! The +1ev brightens the scene up from what the camera will give you in fairly bright scene like snow or sand. I think I added a little more in post process as well, but that's where you have to be careful, not to blow out the highlights.
