About My intent was to make the yellow leaves go out of focus and create a pallett for the red leaves to sit on... Took some time and patience but I think it works, how about you?

Wonderful. I would have never known it was yellow leaves as the backdrop. Looks like you placed a red leaf on a yellow wall. GREAT. Tack sharp - excellent.

Nice composition and lovely use of colour, but the focus doesn't work for me either. It's not the out of focus leaves that bother me so much as the branch.

I think I would have been tempted to try to isolate the single foreground leaf with a higher viewpoint and the stem disappearing out of the top of the frame.

A nice simple and appealing composition. A narrower DOF would probably work a bit better here to put all the leaves in focus.

do you mean that the yellow background is only leaves? wow, that's amazing. I thought you'd put the branch in front of a sheet or something. Great! I agree w/ Petra though, more sharpness would be nice. It could definitely be the scan/compression though.
Cheers, Marc

The colors are beautiful, John. I just wish the whole were sharper and that we could see detail in the leaf in focus.
