Not a place I would lurk around at night if you know what I mean (ghosts you know) =
On a lighter note I met a guy once who was from Kentucky (USA of course). I could hardly understand a word he was saying and he couldn't understand my accent either. Luckily we had translators nearby. He had some home made moonshine and offered me some. It was a clear liquid with all these floating snotty like things in it. I took a wiff of it and after nearly pasing out from the fumes I passed. He had a few sips then after a couple of minutes we were understanding each other perfectly so I guess you could say alcohol is a universal translator....even if you don't drink it. haha.
I spent a few months in England including a rare White Christmas with snow in Brighton, Sussex and I did travel around to some different areas. I could barely understand the English accent no matter where I went. Very strong dialects in the varying areas but always fun trying to understand it.
Cheers - Ann :)

they hanged them, burned them and drowned them - just depended where you were really.
there's a door round the corner from this shot where they were hanged from. Wierd....
The lancastreian accent can be very strong - and it's a fast dialect, which is what catches people out the most. I think it's really friendly though - strange way of saying the letter "R". Becomes the most dominant letter in any word.
I've lived around the north of england and have a "generic northern" accent now - got diluted over the years.
Keep the aussie accent - american ones can be so annoying (not all I hasten to add). Wierd moving from one UK colony to another though!!! Well kinda...
Less poisonous things in the US I guess! None at all here of course!

Great architecture but an eeire scene knowing they used to hang witches there. I thought they used to burn them athe stake - not hang them??
I too don't have any lightning bolts but I just had a vision when I saw the 2 sentries. Maybe one of these Photoshop gurus will pass through hare and read this thread one day and do that. I'm not that clever with PS to create lightning bolts.
Interesting history. Thanks for writing that. I used to work with a lady from Lancashire and I could hardly understand her accent. It was very strong. Do you have one of those hard to understand accents? I still have my aussie acent even though I've lived in the states 7 years now.

.....I've not got any lightenig shots....
feel free to have a play!
the castle is where my county was founded really - Lancashire. It's where the Red Rose of Lancaster was based, we eventually kicked the White Rose of Yorkshire's butts off the throne and formed the House Of Tudor. That was the first time we had any fun in England - it was all war before that, darn french invading in 1066 etc.
so it's quite important to my side of the country really!
here's the castle - the used to hang witches just arround the corner from this

With what you put in your "about", if you were Photoshop inclined, I had a cool Sci Fi idea for this image. You could put horizontal bolts of electricity like lightning going from one sentry to the other....you know....to keep the prisoners in. :) Just what I envision when I look at this image. :) Great B&W tones and very nice DOF.
Thanks also Ade for your comment on my Frozen Falls image. I did stay at those falls until my fingers froze and I couldn't move them anymore....you know - stunt photography - ha.
Cheers - Ann :)
