Cheers Gyorgy, not seen this figure before, I like this kind of art work. Read a good book a few years back of the man they found in the ice in Austria. This one being much older than what they first thought. Nigel

Thanks for your visit, Nigel. AD 1040 was the first generation of Christianity in Hungary. Our first Xian king ruled from 1000 to 1038 and this church was built by the second king of this dynasty. If you are interested in the bronze and neolithic periods, you should come to Szeged and surroundings, one of the richest archeological treasures of that period in Central Europe. (The attached Goddess in our local collection dates from 1800 BC, the age of Stonehenge, and is also reproduced in the Oxford Book of Archeology.) Cheers, György

Like the composition of this long exposure Amazing curves in this very old church (1040 AD, amazing. 1066 in the UK battle of Hasting, Norman invasion in the south and the Vikings in the North. No idea of the History of Hungary, who was around then or before? My knowledge and great interest in history is more bronze/neolithic age Glad you like my photographs of Budapest, didn't venture out from there. Maybe next time I'll get the train and see a few more cities and countryside Nigel

Wonderful architecture, breathtaking, in terms of history and grandeur. Fantastic angle you picked, it enhances the perspective greatly, the light spots also add a feel of being there, while the colors and textures make it more palpable. Great image, Gyuri, congratulations!
