About Yosemite Valley just before New Year's Day. It's unusual to have so much snow in the valley.

Thanks, Manu. I'm not sure about the "prolific" part, maybe I just don't have a high enough standard about what to post!

Fantastic location....I just missed the snow but not the bears....excellent! See http://www.usefilm.com/image/746175.html

Its going to take some time to go through your portfolio as you seem to be a very prolific photographer and with some great looking images

Cheers for the moment.

Manu

Ken, Great Shot...I am envious! I never can get there at that time of year and you got a shot I would love to get! Congratulations! That is hands down my favorite place!

Gee, I'd forgotten I'd ever posed that question! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try, though I don't very often end up shooting in mist conditions around here.

Hi Ken, I have been experimenting too with mist lighting conditions. After having read about it here and there, I think the only reasonable thing to do is to use an exposure correction (no PS at all). You'll have to find out the appropriate correction as I have to do myself. You'll see in my small portfolio, I tend to use around +1.5 stops exposure correction in those conditions. I have tried +2 too, but that is a bit too much for color negative film and the print afterwards. With diapositive you could try though as that can accommodate a larger contrast.

It's an unusual lighting situation because of the low mist with clear sky above. The colors in the foreground should be muted--the problem you're seeing perhaps has more to do with the strong bluish cast (even after I eliminated some in Photoshop) that makes the muted tones too similar.

Can anyone tell me how to deal with this type of lighting? If I use a warming filter it will mess up the sky. If I don't, it's VERY blue in the shadows.

while I know it's late afternoon Ken and the colors should be muted because of the lower angle of the sun it just appears a bit too muted.

I like the composition on this one. There's just something about the exposure on it though that takes a point or two away.
