About
I recently read this great book called Understanding Digital Photography by Bryan Peterson. I would highly recommend it to anyone whether you are a beginner or more advanced. I was surprised at how much I learned and how easy it was to understand.
In this book the author mentioned this web-site www.sh1ft.org/26things/. It's a photographic scavenger hunt where you photograph 26 different items in your own interpretation. Film, digital or both is fine. When you are done, you can post it. It's a great challenge for your creativity in photography.
This is my interpretation of "Out Of Place". I will post my whole list once it's done. Go check out the web-site and challenge yourself! It's a whole lotta fun!
E-mail me your address and next time I'm out wondering the shores of Bellingham Bay I will gather some rocks for you and your kids and mail them to you. ccandred@comcast.net.
As for the scavenger hunt, I started a new portfolio and named it 26 Things November 2005 and when you click on it it opens all the pictures in that portfolio and a web-site address will pop up on top (in the address bar) and that's what I'm using for my host site. So mine is: www.usefilm.com/Photographer.asp?ID=94099&PF=24202. If you type that into your address bar and click GO, my 26 things portfolio will pop up.
I think that the scavenger hunt is a great thing to do when you've been stuck inside all winter. That's kind of why I thought about doing it.
I actually have that book the Artist Way. I started to do it about 7 or 8 years ago and never finished it. It's another good idea to get rid of the winter blahs. I think I will go hunt it down and open it up again and start all over.
oh, i forgot to mention, another good book you may like, for encouraging creative growth in all aspects, is called 'the artists way'. One of the best things i've ever read. It too gives project ideas, and totally changes the way you view the world and art. Its a challenging course, but so rewarding.
(and not just photography based, but all forms of creativity, you just use it towards whichever part of art you like)
Ha, sure, mail me one! I'd be thrilled! Lol, i never get mail anymore, sob ; ( teehee. You send me a rock and i'll send you a maple leaf the size of a pizza, seriously. (ha, when spring comes anyway) So weird, red rocks. Like in prince edward island, the dirt is red. BRIGHT red. And the sand squeaks when you walk in it. Kinda creepy.
I think i may do that project, its just the kind of thing that i need to keep winter from being totally dull. I have cabin fever! What did you do for hosting the picture? Is this where youre hosting it? i noticed that they said that you have to find a place to host it. Just curious; )
The scavenger hunt is a lot of fun! This one is for November 2005, but they won't post another one for a few more months. I think that they do that so that you can have enough time to put something together. So you should have enough time to post something for this one. Let me know if you do it!
I was beginning to wonder if anyone thought that this photo was as interesting as I thought it was! I'm glad that SOMEONE finally commented on it!
I found this stone just the way that it was photographed here. It was just sitting there among all of these drab looking rocks on the shore of Bellingham Bay. I didn't color it either. You can actually find rocks this color all around here and there in this area. They don't look this vibrant when they are dry though. The turn a sort of orange color when they are dry. I will even mail you one if you want!
Sounds fun! Im going to look it up! And youre right, this rock definately seems outta place! Did you color this rock? or was it actually like that? The only reason i ask is because i dont think ive ever seen a red rock! ; )
