About Part of an inland series of lakes at Menindee, where one of our FAMOUS Explorers set out to conquer north/south overland in early 1800's, only to perish on the return trip, just missing the relief party by HOURS!! The lakes are unusual, considering we are the DRIEST continent on the planet...

Naw, they pretty much drain the resevoir. I've been up there was all the conditions were not quite right and the first time I thought of it I was there and the conditions were right--but no fekking camera. Since then I've just missed it. I'm not sure why they drain our resevoirs but there is probably a schedule I could match against the moon cycles and then I'd only have to watch the weather. Plans are easy to plan to make. Hehe.

Yeah James, in your case could be the water level drops in unison with the rising of the moon- one of lifes little mysteries...

So it goes. I have been chasing a shot here for years. I want to shoot a shot across the resevoir in one of the parks were when the moon is full and the night is clear and the city is in view. Every time I do up to make the shot they have drained the resevoir for some reason (beyond me). It's not like I go up there every weekend, but I've probably been there maybe five or six times when the moon was full. Odd.

Thanks, James. Yes it was a good pic, but in the scanning (by others) the quality was awful and was done at Broken Hill, 1000 odd Kms west of Sydney at a Kodak processer. Funny, the guy has sold out... no redress. Also can't find the neg. Guess I'll have to just go back there ( when the water fills the lakes at Menindee again..we are in a severe drought).
By the way, thanks for all your other comments of recent.
Cheers

This is such a fantastic shot. Why is the image quality so low? I think it could compete well in the Reflections project if the image quality were up to snuff. You really should try to dig up that original print or negative and post this one again in Reflections (for that project you may want to consider cropping off some of the top to emphasize the reflection).

Thanks. Yeah, the Southern Highlands are a nice place. I also have photos of Berrima, Mittagong and a few other surrounding towns, from last time I was down there. Enjoy you Christmas JD.
Nikki.

Thank you, Nikki, for your comment. I went to your site and not only found you an Aussie, but from NSW and you posted a pic of the train bridge over the road at Moss Vale, which is near where I was born at Bowral and where I will be spending Christmas with my folks...
Have a Nice Christmas, Nikki.

Nice image. You have captured the sceneary very well, I like the dramatic look of the photograph. The reflection looks great as well.
Regards Nikki.

Excellent abstract or photart JD. I especially love the colors and tone of this composition. It would look neat in a dentist office or some kind of commericai building .. It's very modern looking .. Like a pllce on Mars or something. I like it a lot!
7++

This is a gorgeous image. It just doesn;t seem to have compressed well. I'd love to see it in full
