Not as long as people are still using those same techniques. Not as many, but they are out there. Will they be forever as long as image making continues? I think so. I just recently started using my grandfathers old Kodak Brownie 620, and am in the process of restoring an even older Brownie Automatic folder.

No. Techniques invented 150 years ago are still being practised. They can go on being practised for many years to come.

I think the history will be mostly forgotten, that is the way of evolution (does anyone know the history of the typewriter into a computer key board?).
As far as the techniques go, I do not see them being forgotten any time soon. Regardless of film or digital, the technique is identical for capturing the image (lighting, composition, etc.) the only real difference is how it is recorded (since I don't use a digital camera - for all I know the recording process is the same except for the media), processed and printed.

The history of painting hasn't been forgotten, why then would the history of photography be forgotten? Makes no sense at all.

Sadly I know nothing of photographic history. I simply picked up a camera one day, enjyd how I could express myself with it and I was hooked.

Thanks for answers and views. You all show characteristics of being a real photographer. Learning about photography is only half the fun-the other, of course, is doing photography
