personal taste will determine this.

some like a lack of all color and shoot only B&W film...

some like bright fireworks and shoot Velvia 50...

some people drag the saturation bar until their mouse falls off the screen...

It really depends on each specific photographer & image.

A more specific example of what you mean could help.

Chris

Hi Chris,

What I meant by that is that, for example, the reason why people choose B&W over color picture is to hightlight the textures and details. I wonder if choosing dull color over vibrant color also has the very same effect or vice versa. I've read in one magazine about people who choose to photograph dull-colored picture, rather than using vibrant color, which they claimed to be more pleasurable to look at. And for early morning, the dull colors during that time seem really suitable for landscape photography, to show tonal gradation like in many beautiful pictures of the mountains, which shows tonal gradation from dark green to light blue. And for flower picture, I find that bright colors are very pleasurable, but some time, the dull colors are better. I would like to know how to decide what kinds of color seem to be more favorable/suitable for which situations, which I think probably important while making decision for white balance, i.e to lessen the necessity to edit (and adjust the color saturation in PS).

Regards.
