About I woke up this morning and it was snowing! REALLY snowing. So I hurried up and got dressed and picked up my camera bag to get out there and take some pictures of this unusual sight!! But, by the time I was ready, it had virtually stopped! And by the time I got to the old church, it had stopped completely?

But there was snow on the ground, so I still took a few pic's and eagerly downloaded them. The one of the church came out nicely and I thought, 'what a shame it had stopped snowing." And then I had an idea. So I booted up iTunes and started playing 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow?' ~ and guess what happened?!!!!

You're right. Carole, (not the Christmas variety, you understand!), told me to switch it off, 'cause it was far to early to be playin' that kind of stuff!!

So, the miracle I had hoped for didn't happen! Which meant that I just had to take the shot into Photoshop and make it snow myself!! I've uploaded the snowy version below. Which do you prefer?

Thanks for looking!

Chris

(Loaded 25/11/05 ~ one month before Christmas!!)

P.S. And, yes I know the moon is in the perfect place, but it was nothing to do with me!! I didn't even notice it until I brought the image up on my computer screen! In other words, 'No, I didn't 'drop it in'! :o))

I love this shot. A covering of fresh snow certainly adds a beauty to things. This is a wonderful scene. I can't tell you which i prefer as I can't seem to get the pictures included in comments to show up now. I don't know why. I sure wish i could get that figured out. Obviiusly, others are seeing thiem, so it is something to do with my new computer and perhaps my new Internet Security.

Its a beautiful shot!! The composition with the old church, the moon, the trees and the snow on the ground makes it very nice. The way you have added the falling snow in the second shot is very nice. Beautiful work Chris!

Both are beautiful Chris. You really are quite an operator in PS I just wish I could understand the contents of all 3 Photoshop I have acquired on each upgrade. Don't they know that they have elderly idiots out there?? As you can see Chris I have now got myself into yesterday and with any luck i will reach today before tomorrow. Oh where does all the time go to?? Best wishes....Ray

How wierd is that, Barry?!
Here's the virtually untouched, (just after one or two RAW plug-in adjustments for exposure, etc.), and the moon looks full! At least, I take it that IS the moon?! The photo was taken looking towards the SW.
Thanks for your kind comment.
Best regards, Chris

Glad you captured the snow Chris and in a nice setting. I had a similar idea as I'd been out doing some astrophotography the night before and just as I finished it started to snow. Unfortunately, come dawn it had mostly disappeared. The only thing is... as an amateur astronomer I must point out that the moon was only 37% full yesterday but you appear to have a full moon here?

I LOVE the snowy version, Chris! But then...I love the other version, too! So, I take it you don't get a lot of snow there? I like the snow to stay in the mountains, except for the purpose of taking pictures, of course!

For all the fancy shots on UF (and actually, I feel there are fewer and fewer...), I can rely on you to put up some images of classic English landscape.

This is beautiful, more so with the addition of the snow and the moon. And your opening blues quote in your "about"!

WOW what a wonderful image!!! You see Chris sometimes miracles do happen only not the ones you were hoping for.... no snowy pic but someone/thing is 'mooning' to/at you... LOL!!!! Beautiful soft colors, excellent composition, very nice view... well captured and thanks for running out into that 'snow storm' to catch this moment for us.... ;-D!!!!

Oh this is wonderful Chris. The snow looks so peaceful around the church scene. When I was in Brighton, Sussex years ago we had snow at Christmas and all the locals thought it was a miracle to have snow on the english coast but it happened. I love how you got the snowy effect in the second photo. Very well done. Great photos both of them.

Cheers - Ann :)

So frames like these exist outside hollywood movies too :) Great shot cris. Thanks for sharing. and BTW, i like the original one more, for simple reason that snow fall with a blue sky and bright moon looks a bit unnatural to me
