About This is part of my 1st attempts with IR film. Is it too dark? is the focal point correct? Any and all comments are appreciated.

I'm not bothered by the lack of distinction in places between clouds and trees. To me it emphasizes the similarity of shapes. I like the graininess. Two things I think can improve the picture are to cut out a little bit of the foreground, and to remove that diagonal light streak (cloud?) near the middle of the right side of the photo. The crop I have in mind:

What iso do you shoot at?Did you scan from print or film?
HIE can give you printable negs from 100-400.
I used red 25a filter.HIE is very difficult film to work with regards to light leak, but can be very rewarding when people says WOW,as I know they will at your images in the future.
A less forgiving IR film is the Konica 750,makes excellent B&W also.

Robert

Thanks for your comments Robert. I'll keep them in mind while shooting my next roll of IR. Also, thanks for pointing out that film. It should have read HIE (I'm not quite sure where my brain was when I typed that in...).

Welcome to the world of infrared Jean-Pierre.
Kodak EIR is color slide, did you change it to B&W
after scanning?Aperture setting, iso and filters used would be nice. With BLUR applied i can`t comment on the focusing.
We all have different views,so please don`t take my comments personally, grain is fine, blur i don`t like,no separation of trees and clouds, too dark.In b$w ir vegetation should be white.
Overall a good attempt but i know you will get better, looking forward to your future postings.
That`s my personal view but what do i know.!!!!!
regards
Robert

I will try to give my honest impression and suggestions Jean Pierre.
The whole is really impressive and the grain is quite all right to emphasize clouds in the sky and it sharpness is really perfect.
still I can see a little bit of blur effect but it's really difficult to figure out the correct focus point.
I think to improve this kind of shot you could try to remove grain and to choice a perfect point where focusing you can't make mistake.
The shot is really interesting with a good grey tonal nuances
I use P0007 cokin filter and digital camera so I'm not so skilled like you to give more suggestions
I hope to help you and sorry for my bad typed english.
Paolo
