..this is beautifully done, I tend to resist placing the subject right in the middle of the frame, in this case you have got away with it very well; tend to look for the subject looking at the camera, in this shot the effect is just right the way it is, a well executed and engaging black and white photograph. well done, Susie. cheers, david.

Hi Sherry,
Thanks for the comment! I used a blurred lighting vignette on this. I think I had just learned it at the time, and now I use it a lot. I like the effect in certain circumstances. If you have PhotoShop there is are some great books by Scott Kelby that have so many neat techniques. I highly recommend them.

Susie i really have fell in love with this frame of yours. extraordinary capture.It's so neat and simplistic...the array of structural lines form the background which provides a solid base to this photograph on which u have played a soft and heart rendering story of a anxious kid. Susie, it's indeed a sweetly and lovely shot. for me the brilliant expose and white tone of dress work perfect. the compositin is simply, i see you have a good simplicity in your looking and captures (of your portfolio) the spot area in the middle catch the eye to attend the character.I would nominate your shot in the donor forums for awards!

This is an awesome shot Susie. I love the real emotion coming through in the shot. And a different emotion than you usually see in a photo. Very nice tones as well. I love that you kept her feet in the shot and the little toes are showing with the butterflys. Great job!

hi, what i find funny is that her aunt is there at the ready to capture her anxiety!..LOL..very good tonal range,the dof is perfection here(even behind her shoes!)and the vignetting works well
