Heaven! This is one of my favorites of yours, and it went into my file. I adore this Carsten. The detail, light and toning of the grain are phenomenal. The cloud formation with the patch of dark negative space near the center really makes this sing. Congrats on the SC! Antonia

Of course, almost all my stuff is artificial. Sometimes I try to achieve a film-like result, but most often it is just more fun to try something out with PS beyond it.

And Jeanette wants even more contrast? Honestly, I don't know what to make of this picture. It's very artificial, with the look of some kind of synthetic metal that doesn't exist in reality. But it's very very impressive. The very sharp detail everywhere is even a bit overwhelming. What a photograph!

Brian, the EF-S 10-22 is quite decent optically, especially quite flare-resistant and almost no barrel distortion @ the wide end. Not as sharp and contrasty as the 17-40/4L, but probably the best option if you really need super wide with the 300D or 20D.

Jeanette, thanks for your comment - I tried out a more contrasty version, and I like it. Viewed side by side, I must say that the contrast-enhanced version loses after some time looking @ the picture. It is always a compromise, you lose subtle tones and gain first-look impact
