About This dude annoyed me one-too-many times... Was kind of a pretty fly, though... for a fly... I guess...

Wow. Thanks so much, Magnus (may I say that you have a great name.). I really appreciate that. This was my first high-key background. It's turned out well considering I was squeezed in the bathroom at night with only a few 40W lightbulbs on.

Again.....you really know your high-key backgrounds. I think this is one of my favourite insect macros on UF. There are sharper ones, better ones in color and detail, but this fly is dead on it's back which makes it different from the orhers. An extra plus for the excellent title.

LOL:), Nicely done Morgan I love your PS work. You might of used a little fill flash on the corpse to bring out a little more detail but I do like it anyways. You have quite a nice portfolio and I want to thank you for your wonderful comments on my pics. I look forward to seeing more of yours.

Cool, thanks, Angelo. I think I'll judo-chop me a piece of cardboard and see how that works for a while. Tahnks for the idea.

Ninja-san, :)

I have a little Lastolite collapsible reflector, silver one side, gold the other. It works ok but is getting a bit tatty now. Had it many years.

Sometimes I use is a white A4 sheet as reflector. It's also been sugested to me that a piece of cardboard covered in alluminium foil (as in cooking foil) or a small mirror make excellent reflectors.

How did you manage to kill him while not squishing him?

I agree, Angelo. I haven't one, but I'm thinking that might have to be my next purchase. I was using the flash and my Surefire light to illuminate this guy on a blank sheet of paper. Turned out well for what I had at my disposal.

What would be a good relfector for macro shots?

What can I say? A result, in more ways than one.

Your high-key background is very nice.

My only sugestion would be to use a reflector and reflect some light back into the dark areas for a bit more detail.
