This is just a great place to stop and take a photo - I've been there and quite honestly needed to take a shot as an excuse to rest on the way back up.

Yes, it was late in the day, Pat-- but not near enough to sunset. I don't get there very often, it's quite a drive from where I live, but if I do get there again I'm going to be mindful of the light!

they were closed this day, too, Loren-- otherwise there may have been a shot looking UP them! Too windy, a common thing here, I think. If I ever get time to go and actually do a shoot I may take you up on the offer. Right now I'm just catching what I can between point A and point B...

This one gives me vertigo.... I like the composition very much but I think you where there when the light was tough. Is it close enough to go back after sunrise or before sunet? I think it would be worth the trip.

Hi Christine, The Point Reyes lighthouse was all foggy and 40 mph winds when I last went, so the stairs were closed. Looks like you were able to get down with no problems. I'm in the East Bay if you ever want to go on a photo trip in the bay area. - Loren

It's in Pt. Reyes Station north of San Francisco... it was too windy that day, so the stairs to the light house were closed. This was the only vantage point I had, but I think it was probably the best one anyway...
