Thanks Margaret. I didnt crop out the ship as it is what Newcastle is known for. You see, the Hunter Valley (near newcastle) is a huge coal mining area. There is a big port at newcastle where the ships load the coal. At any time from the beach you can see up to 20 ships waiting to enter the port and load up. So for that reason... i thought with a photo of the world's best surfer, i had to 'newcastleise' it.
if it wasnt for this i probably would have went for the crop.

wonderful capture steve, i dont know what it is but when there is a tanker in the background it adds a lot to the image... great color, composition and capture of kelly peaking out of the tube... did you really have the 18 to 55 on the cam though??? waves must be really close to shore huh?

WOnderful capture, but - wow how frightening, You got the sparkling water so well. DId you try a crop taking out the ship - maybe make it look even more dramatic mmmmhh tried it, not sure now Margaret
