I used Adobe Photoshop Elements to do this. I used the feather tool, highlighting the flowers whitch I then copy as a layer. I removed the color from the main picture which is the background. This leaves the flowers (diferent layer) in the origenal color while the background in B&W.

Wow Willie this is wonderful. Love how the purple of the flowers contrast against the B&W. Did you use masks to save the colour or did you hand colour? Am still very much a photoshop beginner trying to learn as much as I can.
