Situado a 4,5 Km do centro histórico.

XV); a segunda, no reinado de D. Manuel I (séc. XVI).

Possui o maior conjunto de azulejos mudéjares do país.

----------------------------------------------

This palace is the most accomplished and remarkable example of Portuguese Romantic architecture. Built at approximately 500 metres above sea level, it goes back to 1839, when the prince consort D. Fernando II of Saxe-Coburg (1816-1885) bought the ruins of the Hieronymus Monastery of Our Lady of Pena and began to make it into a small palace. To oversee the work, he called Baron Eschwege, whose inspiration for this remarkable edifice came from palaces in Bavaria. Extremely fanciful, Pena?s architecture uses not only Moorish, gothic and Manueline motifs, but also the Wagnerian spirit of Central Europe?s, Schinkel castles.

Thank you for your comment. You may be right, if i have not centered the subject, it would be better. The light wasn?t the best so i had to loose some detail on the left. Thank you again. Best regards. Rui

Great commentary Rui, and a nice shot of Palacio da Pena. I feel the composition would have had far more impact had you followed the ROT's....such as placing it over further to the right and opening up the hinterland to the left. It may have given more perspective too.
It looks like you had difficult lighting to contend with, as the walls to the left of the building are slightly blown and lacking detail.
Regardless, a lovely shot and thanks for sharing..........regards, Steve.
