Dear Tara, I'm not using the lens hood when I'm in the field, and I always ask to the people if I can take pictures of them. Sometimes I show them the pictures I've taken .... this is a good thing with digital. I'm trying to be as descreet as possible. Thanks Philip

I have this lens too Philip, may I ask another question? When you are in the field, the lens hood of this particular nikkor is quite large... how do you employ it?... I only ask because sometimes people get freaked out by my hooded 17-55 that sometimes I get a little self=conscious. Normally, I don't often use the lens hood. To be a little more discreet, I often opt for the "sneaky long" 24-85 AF-S. Do you have any thoughts? In other words, for these kinda photo's are you shooting with the hood on? Do your subjects seem to care? Thanks in advance for any comments you may share, I am a big fan of your work.

Phillip, an amazing shot and amazing skin effect. I dont mind the contrast - difficult to avoid the bright background with a dark skin colour. Well taken.

Hi Philip, Very nice, clear picture! Maybe the white background is a little to bright, but on the other hand it gives a nice effect too... Chantal
