Simple and efficient composition, very creative. I agree with Curtis' comment about composition, and imho the forks are not totally sharp.
Overall a good photo.

thank you for your very thoughtful comment. I tried to fix the highlights a bit in photoshop in this image. But I think I will have to retake this photo to really eliminate that glare/messiness. I am just starting out with these kinds of still lifes and am not used to thinking about all the details that will affect the image in the end. thank you!

Hi Gaja, this is terrific! I'm really impressed by your creative arrangement of the forks, and also by the composition, which works for me. I do have a nitpicky comment about the contrast, though (and I'm only getting nitpicky because of how much I like the concept in the first place). It looks to me like some of the highlights (especially on the tines of the fork are a bit messy and indistinct). I can't tell whether this is due to some parts being of focus, the lighting situation, or your manipulation of the contrast. The tines of the upper forks almost look like they're starting to fade into the background. Somehow, I'm guessing this is not what you were trying to achieve, and that you were going for high contrast because you wanted a crisp delineation between the forks and the white surface.

This is a wonderful abstract. And I like the foreground white space; I think it enhances the illusion of floating forks.
This actually reminds me of Ursula Abresch's series with forks.

thanks for you comment. I guess I just liked the white space; it seemed to enhance the look of simplicity that I was going for. I actually took the shot with that framing so I don't have much room for cropping in any way. I plan to post some similar shots with different framing soon; I'd be curious to find out whether you prefer those.

Excellent. I can't tell if that is a mirror image or four forks. Curious as to why you chose to only use the upper half of the photo for the subject, though.

thanks for your sweet comment. I don't know if I was actually creative, I just put some forks down and started taking pictures. I arranged them in different ways, and this was one of my favorites in the end. I added the black and white and high contrast stuff in Photoshop.

Very abstract photo of a simple subject. The lighting/contrast is great. The composition may be a little top heavy, although it's hard to say without seeing a different version, but overall great idea and nice work.
