Great composition! The angle of the cat is a great lead to the sunbeams in the water. Colors are good.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, Alastair. You really looked closely and caught the question I also had with the texturing of the white on the leg as well. I think the best solution would be some "manual" brush strokes. Thank you so much for taking the time for careful critique.

Great shot! I think the brush effects look good and probably are about right. A previous critique pcked up on the eye and the revised one looks a lot better. I can't help wondering if a different technique may have worked better though as the brush filter has left black patterning on the white of the leg and I find that a little distracting? Maybe a watercolour effect? Or perhaps just toning down the patterning...? Lovely shot of the cat though and well caught!

Sorry Sam -- it seems the pic did not load the first time . . . here is the original. (still getting the hang of what sizes to reduce to.)

Thanks Sam! You make me smile -- of course the "real thing" is absolutely wonderful! That is what inspires me but when I am inspired, I want to be part of the creative process; in essence, personalizing it instead of simply recording it. Here is the original for your viewing pleasure:

It?s a lovely picture, why would you bother to convert it to a second hand technique? It?s almost never half as nice as the real thing... Welcome to usefilm

Thanks Amy -- notice how a cat can effectively enhance a photo? :) Thanks for the descriptive and complimentary critique.

Ev, Absolutely stunning! Goes to my favorites! I like the brush strokes, and intense light. Also the play of round shapes and diagonals is intriguing. Amy

Thanks for your input, Michelle -- I agree, the eye is a little "hot" so here is a cooler gold color I think works better too. That was helpful!

i like the pose of the cat on the lily pads, anf the paint effect is tunning. i'm just a little off put by the red eye, could that be removed?

Nice painterly effects. I wouldn't push too hard on it since it still a little tricky to the eye and keeps it interesting.
Welcome to usefilm!
