April, I think this is a really great dramatic portrait. I like the use of artificial light. I do have two small suggestions that I think would really add to the portrait and give it an even more dramatic feel.
1. Either crop or black out the flash light, I think it distracts from the subject.
and
2. Completely black out the left eye.

the light in the eye it's just natural. all I did to this picture was to desaturate a bit the face area.

This is cool. A great use of artificial lighting. My only nitpick is that the catchlight in the right eye looks misplaced. It stands out a bit too much, IMO. It makes it look fake. I like it being there, but maybe if it were softer, or moved a bit to the right. Or both. Something about it just doesn't look right to me. But I love the image, and think it's a great piece of work.
