Hi Santos please re read the definition of photography as per my post classic landscape ...umm try thinking about Aust Aboriginal art which mostly is around totemic maps.. Ie aerial views of the surface of the earth..from there it is not a long jump to a photograph of a map or even a page...UF has a plethora of images of paintings which have been photographed and uploaded dont struggle with definitons struggle with creativity a demon far mor worthy of a stoush than pointscoring off pedants kcu thanks for adding to the mix btw

Muswellbrook & Districts Camera Club: Definition of Photography as adopted into constitution June 1958 as amended

Galaxy

And you saw its full brutality
its deathlike finality
of deaf, searching in a darkened room
in that silence so remote
deprived you shout
no one listens to the noise that comes out

You are alone
building your model
its tender framework,
ready to collapse
but you?ve had it
dislocated, strewn
by hard hearts in the past, but
by now it hurts
as if it should have the right to last

And clutch it
in fear
to the breast of sentimentality
and the blindness
of its naivety

So a million soar upwards
in the complexity, speed
and sureness
of a galaxy

and sureness

of a galaxy.

Your right Jim, the Artist matters here. But I am just stating my opinion. Honestly there are some shots in your portfolio that I would question as well and I am sure in mine you would find some also.

Have a happy holiday! Go Cubbies.. 05 is there year

well... it takes a silly boy to recognize another one...

Inside joke or not.. he is right. Take it.

I like your portfolio. Very vivid and accurate representation of real, everyday life. And I do consider it artistic enough and important enough to look at. I especially like the diner one...
Cheers, Jimbo. Take a chill pill or drink a Lord Beer and relax...

Hiya Rog. Your friend Jimmy, the polemicist, has a lot to say.

Funny how this "picture" has more views and comments than your whole past week's work combined. Maybe you should start showing us the good stuff again...

I still respect your work deeply and I consider you a great photographer, not matter what.

Cheers, mate.

Not art??? Neither was Andy W.'s campbell soup cans or Jack the Dripper's paint splooshes... not art??? ... but still, to the eye of the beholder... goodbye. Ignore content??? I really don't think you are important enough to worry about "ignoring"... Smiles to you and yours. Merry Christmas, whoever you are.

ppdix  ppdix     {K:17069} 12/17/2004
ok.. not a monkey...

how about a 2 year old with a camera phone?

Dude. Whatever u say this is definitely not art. Sorry.

And once again, this is just my opinion... People are welcome to take it or leave it, just like I am welcome to look or not at photos on a public website like this one.
Next time, I will ignore content like this... Which, if you think about it, it is a pity for the artist to have his work ignored.

Cheers, baby

Nope... this is not a "monkey" shot. This does not exist in the real world. This had to be created, ergo, a vision had to be met...ergo... art. Maybe not art you like, but art nonetheless. It is not a "oops" image... it had to be thought out.

I agree Jimbo but an artist should create art to be admired. This is not something ANYONE can admire... Roger is a great photographer but stuff like this doesn't show how good he is.

A monkey with a polaroid could have taken this shot.

His real photography impressed me enough to add him to my friends' list. I want to keep admiring him and his work..

What??? Does not belong? I have seen on this site: Green sunsets, orange roses, purple oceans, Photo Shopped images up the wazoo... Snow what is blue, clouds that are red.... where does photography end and graphic imaging begin? What is proper on this site? The vision of the artist... end of of story.

HEY! Seatonville may not me Carlock! But it is still a pretty good place. If ya don't like the pic, "Move along, nothing to see here." I remember seeing you cracking wise on a pic of a Brit run for breast cancer and you getting put in your place by a very proper Brit. If ya donna like what ya see.. buck up cowgirl. Life is not always what you want it to be.

Geesh roj, ya do somefinn different and people get all pissy. DD once told me, "There are those so full of it they walk wiff a stick up their arse." And I thought this pretty clever, as in a different way. It was pretty cool. And those what attacked it, it didn't cost them a red cent (penny) to look at it. It did NOT take away from their donot cash or anything. Ahhhh.... ya have the brain, ya have the vision... it was something different. And some just donna wanna have fun. Go figure.

Dotti,

Thanks for your opinion on this. Have a happy holiday!

Dorothy Di Liddo   {K:13787} 12/16/2004
Chris, This comment doesn't make sense, like I said to ppdix, if you do not like something do not comment, or do not look. There area lot of photos that I don't particularly care for, but I do not bash the photographer or the photo, that is not what this site is about. There are too many folks on this site who are trying to force thier opinions down other folks throats. Unless a photo is offensive, I say just let it be. The bottom line is If someone cannot say something nice, maybe they just should not say anything at all. Dottie

Cheryl,

You have your thoughts and I have mine. I was a donor on this site for a long time and now I am not because of stuff like this. I don't agree with PP's wording but I still think stuff like this does not belong.

Have the best of holidays!

PS. Roger, the rest of your portfolio is very nice.

fd;jgo[8urefwofo34ujferwp No! Not upset at all! I hadn't had time to do all my friend's checkups... kekekek.. Man those figures are VERY accurate... I wonder if anyone has any pictures of this place?

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 12/16/2004
Wow - you have the nerve to talk about being a professional with that mouth? How dare you!?! That is so unnecessary and I'd like to point out that 1) there are NO rules stating that all the photos must meet YOUR expectations and 2) Roger is a donor and has the right to load what he wants. You do not have to comment or view if you don't want to.

Cheryl Ogle   {K:24494} 12/16/2004
No offense Chris, but I agree with Dot. There is no "BELONGS" on this site and no one has the right to be swearing about a photo. It's ART. It's a place to gather and if you don't like something, fine - don't comment or be professional about the critique but PP was WAY out of line on his reply.

Chris Lauritzen   {K:14949} 12/16/2004
I agree with ppdix, this does not belong here.

Hey pp get over it, this is also a site for folks to meet & support each other. If you don't like the photo, you are under NO obligation to comment. Sorry Roger, had to vent a bit. Just let it be PP ok, just let it be! Dottie

I still don't get it...

This is supposed to be a photographer's website.

All these internal jokes that nobody else understand make u look unprofessional and to tell u the truth, bad.

Come on... Gimme something to admire... Not this s**t...
