City - Omaha State - NEBRASKA Country - United States
About
This is for all the international UFC members. Today being a historic election day in the U.S. of A , I chose to post this American symbol, Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), from Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, NE.
The Founding Fathers chose this eagle species, only found in North America, as the national bird of the United States in 1782. The word "bald" is derived from the word "piebald", an old word which means "marked with white."
In our small rivertown of Iowa state, we're still awaiting the return of these magnificent birds to migrate for the winter.... http://www.usefilm.com/image/266113.html
He looks very serious. Superb shot. The title suits as we are having an election here in Canada this month. Mary

Sudhir, thanks so much for your comment on Show Off. Greatly appreciated. You too have a great portfolio and I've chosen this one to comment on as I have a love of Bald Eagles as you may have gathered. I've mostly seen them in Canada but I visited Dyersville, Iowa about 4 years ago and we stopped off in Dubuque for lunch. There were Eagles and Osprey soaring in abundance. That was at the end of June. What a magnificent sight. Unfortunately I was doing video at that time so I don't have any good quality shots. As you say, nice bumping into you. I'll be keeping an eye out for your shots. Den
