About
I wanted an image with the bird's head crest erect and it finally obliged. I was panning, handheld with a total of 1000mm of focal length, following the bird as it ran across the road.
Den: What can I day? I was extremely lucky to capture this image. There was indeed camera shake but perhaps the panning motion helped smooth it out somewhat. The lens is also image stabilized. There are about ten frames from this sequence and three or four are out of focus.

What a fantastic image Fred - so sharp, and the DOF adds magic to it. How did you manage the DOF at f16? Obviously 1/1000 sec was needed to combat camera shake @ 1000mm focal length but even at ISO 800 there's no trace of noise.(Not even a "Beep, beep"). My compliments. Den
Another great shot, Fred, although I think I like the other a little better, because of the background. I see what you mean about the head crest, though. Great panning! Dave.
