An excellent perspective shot, I love how the eye is drawn along the curves to the man (your father?) standing in the center. Very strong and dynamic image, great job!

Andy, this is simply a fabulous composition and a fine story too. Clarity is simply superb, and the fact that your subject is so small in the scene really empowers this even more.

I think this is a marvelously good-looking photo. There's something Japanese (which of course the motif suggests as well) in its surprising accentuation of perspective. The textural variety and the richness of forms in it keep the eye busy. The assumed subject (the human being) is tiny, yet clearly the focal point. Here's a Hiroshige which achieves a similar effect with some of the same means (odd angle on the motif, tiny people compositionally given importance).
