About I hope these IR shots aren't getting too boring. I'm just learning the techniques and want to share . The hardest thing I've found so far is fighting the wind at slow shutter speeds, not too good for sharpness. I shot this at ISO 400 to try to keep the shutter speed faster than 2 sec.

Absolutely stunning. I find IR shots, this is the first colour one I have seen, to be fascinating. Everything in the image is heightened, more there, I have yet to be able to properly describe it. This one is really gorgeous and the the furthest thing from boring. A fave for sure.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the kind words on this. I used to own a Sony also but it is a little different with the D70. The ir blocking filter in the D70 doesn't swing away like the Sony in nightshot mode. No ND filters are needed with the D70 just an IR filter like the Hoya R72. I'm using a Harrison & Harrison 88a which is close to the R72. To achieve the colors first I manually set the WB with the filter on the lens. I usually use a nice clean section of blue sky to do this. Metering is a challange and I bracket a lot starting at 1 sec @ f11. When I get one with a resonable tonal range I'll make a few adjustments using levels in PS elements. Then if there is some sky in the picture I swap the red and blue channels with the channel mixer to achieve the bluish sky and pinkish foliage. I'm still learning this and hope this helps a little...........Chuck

I like the IR shots Chuck. Tell me how you do yours? Just a visible light blocker and an ND Filter like I do with the Sony? The color in yours is a welcome element that mine lacks.
