March 24, 2004 -- Marie Reynolds sits in the living room of her mobile home in Guston, Kentucky next to her collection of holiday cards from family and friends, which she displays on the wall opposite her favorite easy chair. At ninety-five she is still in excellent health and lives alone. Marie enjoys baking, watching soap operas, and even after her hip replacement three years ago, looks forward to setting out a garden of tomatoes and onions this spring. When asked the secret of her longevity she says, "I never drank. I never smoked. But if you get me upset I sure can cuss you out."
I adore this document. Such a departure from other work of yours, Jay, and proof of the breadth of your talent. You have captured here the collage of a life, with many possible political and personal conclusions. I also appreciate the darkness of the lower left corner bleeding into the frame with a subtlely ominous effect. Amazing work.
