I always wonder what "adverse weather conditions" refer to. Adverse for a picnic? For suntanning? What's more dramatic than the expression of nature's power in the audio cacophany of rolling thunder and heavy rain on tent canvas or the visual hallucinations of a wild lightning storm? Give me the adverse conditions (almost) anytime! You've caught a beautiful scene beautifully here, John. Fine work, and yet another in a portfolio of real significance. Tim

Marvellous dark, oppressive sky and dramatic composition. Maybe the 2-stop grad filters significantly alters the real image, but I think greatly helps to remind us of our actual feelings under such weather.

John, another Beautiful capture here! This photo has excellent depth, and captures the viewers interest instantly, above in the clouds, and the landscape as well. It really is nicely, balanced! Really, the photo is so interesting, and captivating, it grabs you here! John, great work, now next time, make sure it really is razor sharp! I have to be a critic here too, but most constructively, I really am missing that 0.01% of perfection here! :-)
Best Wishes John.

Hi John, i've just treated myself to another dose of Otago scenery by looking through your portfolio, thanks! I like this one but i find it a little dark, maybe i've just forgotten what its like when the southerly blasts through. Thansk for your recent comment and keep up the good work. Neil

Absolutely gorgeous John, the white house really adds to the scene, the drama is compelling. I owuld like to see it just a shade brighter, not much though, Cary

John, Amazing photo! I concur with regard to adverse weather condition and in this case believe that it is really a combination of things that makes your photo interesting. I very much like the tree and fact its not centered, the house, shoreline, coast and clouds. Color is very nice and I'm a bit surprised that the scene has the light over the near field and house that it does. Very good work here and excellent timing! 5x7 for sure! Regards, Dan

Hi John,You certainly created a lot of drama with the 2stop grad.I used 1 stop and mine pales in comparison, like your composition with the forground tree. Micky.

Hi John. This is a powerful and dramatic landscape with beautiful lighting and composition. It's wonderful in color, and I bet it would also look in excellent in B&W. I love the Olympus E-1-- operationally fast with compact and fast lenses-- and the battery seems to last forever. Cheers. Craig
