Aha - just figured that the only way to comment on a comment or answer a question is to post another comment (strange). Anyhow, thanks for all the kind words. Lighting was just the ambient tungsten light provided by the room lights with a piece of black card for the background.

this is totally awesome for more than one reason. the only constructive suggestion i can make is to crop the lower black space to make it more abstract than it already is...
