Hey John, thanks for your comment yesterday. I have no excuse but not knowing what the hell day it was... I should be there for the next meeting. I'm glad everyone liked the hummingbird :-)

Now, on to this photo. Color me jealous! I need to get down there with my 15-30 and see what I can do. :-)

Nice contrast and color. I would like to see more variations of angles of this image. I think a less centered approach would be interesting. Let the lines become more playful.
overall I still like this shot though.

cheers,
nicole

My favorite subject matter, and you did an awesome job of catching the moment with perfection.

Hi John,

I very much like this photo! The silhouetted pier against the sunset sky and dark-but-well-textured surf makes for a very strong composition. That breaking wave with the 3 swimmers behind it (especially the leftmost figured, silhouetted from waist-up) adds a feeling of scale and a very nice finishing touch to this excellent photo.

Excellent depth. The pillars and underside of the pier are on the dark side which is to be expected. I wonder if use of some fill flash might have made this a little more interesting.... on the flip side it might have also been distracting. Beautiful capture. Reminds me of S. California where I grew up.
