try the clone or rubber stamp tool for dust generally it works really well, although it is time consuming. The color tones and the extra contrast looks almost like it was cross-proccessed. I like it.
Yes, you're right. When I scanned it, there was lots of dust on the image. I used the "remove dust" tool in my photo editing program to get rid of it, but then I lost all of the sharpness of the image. Then I used the sharpening tool, but it made the flower look kind of rough and pixel-y. I'm not very good with the editing software yet!
I personally wish there were a little more light on the subject, but it works well without it. I strongly suspect that jpg compression has darkened this a great deal and strip it of its texture.
