Hi Spencer! Is this the house up on South Temple and about 5th east or around there? Or does that one have an extra storie? Hmm... I haven't been in that area for a while. But this one doesn't look like it's on the corner so maybe it isn't the mansion I'm thinking of. But it's near there somewhere, isn't it?
I LOVE these old houses and I think your photo really brings out the character in this one.

After seeing the thumbnail odf this image, I must say I am very surprised. This is a very beautiful piece of architecture with excellent details. You captured it in a superb way, Spencer, I like the composition a lot cause it looks like you took this shot hiding behind the three on the foreground. I also like the structure of the building Wonderful work! BTW, I prefer B&W to sepia, but that's personal. Thanks for your very nice comment on my "Hospital or a Prison?"

Spencer, I like Leslie's suggestion and your response. It saves this from being such a stark newspaper image and creates a melancholy feel. An excellent shot with excellent comp. Love the dark bulk of the tree/trees on the right.

There is a strange, but beautiful atmosphere in this photo, not dramatic, but a little disquieting, I do not know why but for me the houses with closed windows have always a mysterious aspect, very good gray scale, I like it. Bye Max

Spencer...you might want to check your numbers...as I exited your image I saw that the "Overall" button was not filled in...I gave you straight 7's on this...but I'd tried to correct it and apparently that is one of the things we can't do here...you have my apologies, as I really do think this is excellent work

What a great old structure and taken at a good angle...the only thing I might suggest is to warm it up a bit...black and white doesn't always have to be black and white...just a hint of sepia maybe...I love the detail and I love the bush/tree that it was taken from...excellent

Oops.. that was suppose to be one lower, in "architecture".. I accidentally chose alternate process.. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't even notice!

The texture in the mansion is *very* interesting. I like the composition also - it gives a hint of a clandestine approach. Light closer to dusk might have enhanced that feeling if that was what you were going for here? What alternative process did you use for this photo?
