Aren't black and white photos supposed to be black and white? All I can say is, grey, grey, grey. Try using a grey card when you're printing to help you measure contrast tones.

Double observation in this shot - the man on the right observing the photographer, and the man on the left observing the man on the right. Good capture. The way the older guy is staring and holding his umbrella (if that's what it is), he looks like his thoughts regarding the other man are rather aggressive.
The composition could have been better I think - either clearly separating the man using the telephone, or hiding him behind the column. A bit more room at the bottom would have been nice, too. But alas, such is street photography - we don't always get things perfect. The important thing is that this interesting moment in time was captured.
Have you considered cropping just to the left of the older man's leg?
