About Took my lens to the ballet the first day I got it, handheld all the shots and only 2 or 3 of the whole roll showed any camera shake. I had to be patient and wait for the dancers to move through well lit areas of the stage as flash would have been very discourteous.

Good timing. You caught them at the perfect moment. You did an excellent job but to make it better I would have stood back a little more.

Was it at all possible to use a tripod? When do stage shooting such as this i can't live without mine, usually running into ridiculous low light (like 15th sec @ f2.8 @ iso1600, or worse), but sharp images can be had even under those conditions with a little good timing (waiting for them to hold a pose) and a solid tripod. Your other option is to use faster film, fuji 1600 being the best in color (my opinion, i like grain, and its very saturated) or Kodak p3200 b&w (pushable to ridiculously high isos), great image either way, tho id crop it down to simplify it some
