The shadows is the only thing that connects you to your surroundings here, I'd keep them in. Maybe a touch less contrast as a possible alternative.

You might be a nerd but you're a very cute one, personally I'm a geek. I quite like the shadows on this, normally I'd consider them taboo but the harsh b&w quality lets them add to it.

this is a good composition. I assume this is a self portrait. if you can digitally remove the shadows of reflection on the wall, you got yourself a winner.. very nice high contrast settings.
