Hi, Shannon...i came over to UseFilm after seeing your profile at PSIG and have waited for a new photo of yours to appear here! It seems you are having too good a summer to spend time uploading photos. Good for you! Your inimitable touch is all over this photograph. There is so much warmth both in the physical qualities of the tones and textures, but also in this child?s face. She is relaxed, happy and irresistable. You capture such pure innocence in your photos of children, Shannon. There?s no coyness, no mockery, no contrivance. Just the purest essence of what it means to be a child. i love her freckles, her overalls, her little white undershirt, her pigtails and that one glittering earring, suggestive of the teenager she will one day become. The muted greenery and the white picket fence in the background are very evocative of summer and the family backyard. Your frame is perfection as well. Something tells me you are a very happy man, Shannon. One thing, and i know you hate comments like this, but the tight crop over her head makes me feel a bit like she?s tilting her head so she doesn?t bump it on the top edge of the frame. Yes, I've missed your photographs too, Shannon.
I love the subtle goings-on in the background here, adn the girl's tilt and expression. I also really like the light on her arm, and the flatter light across her face and hair. It's very simple, but also very beautiful -- plainsong, I think would describe my reaction.
Nicely done, and again, good to see your work again.

Wonderful Portrait. Cropping is the only thing I could see as a slight problem but its a personal preference thing. I like what you've done here.

I'm proud to be the first to comment on this wonderful portrait. Shapr, crips, full of emotion. One can't help but think this kid is the greatest. Light on her left arm distracts but that's a nitpick.
