I am neither "offended" nor I am "angry" Luis. I only speak the truth, as cold blooded as you imagine. Should you think that critiques is to exclusively tap on each other's shoulders, then you unfortunately make a mistake.
You can "regret" whatever you like, that's your decision, and I simply don't have anything to do wjíth that. But this image is definitely not the witness of "40 years of experience". So, leave away the may too many words, and attach the original shot in case you have it.
Oh, and not to forget! Quite contrary to you I *did* speak about the light leakage of my magazine instead of inventing false explanations like you did, ey? And don't worry, I do have my new seals already, since I don't deny to see the problems of my images like you do. Now, if you think that professionalism can be achieved without knowledge, then... OK, no problem to me, Continue your false "explanations". Absolutely nobedy in real photography is going to care for that!
Bye, bye and last message from me.
Nick

I cannot understand the ironic unnecessary words in your comment.- ¿Why my friend you are offended, angry..?
There is nothing staff in these comments, only good intentions of fun or for pleasure.- I agree with you who try to write poems before the knowledge of the alphabet is a pity.-
¿About incompetence...in photography...?
Well I know what is that.- Only forty (40) years of experience in the photography are enough for my...altough we learn some new concept or opinions of people who know more than us... Sorry in my case I don't need post my photo to a professional... is not a inquiry ¿What is a professional? Someone who lives (I mean eat from the photography) selling the images, maybe is a graphic reporter. ¿Is who makes fashion photo, advertissing or who makes porno? ¿Who is a professional? I regret the confusion, surely it is better to make poor surface comments to avoid dislikes.- Remember you must repair the magazine of your Hasselbald camera is a pity that between light.- Regards.- LUIS
The STICKER, LABEL or TAG (in yellow under black big letters) "Professional" is'nt any INSURANCE of knowledge, and you know that.- At the end of the

It is senseless to refer to such techniques when the basic material simply isn't sufficiently good. Actually this result here doesn't even come close to this effect. Good result of that are everywhere in the web - so anybody can compare for the own self.
In order to go for that effect the image has to be crystal clear sharp, Luis. This one certainly wasn't. BTW, attach please the original.
And of course I know what is a pity. A pity is to see so many people trying to write poems before they know the alphabet, that's a pity. And even more pity it is to see that incompetence and lack of knowledge makes such an impression to so many other people here in UF. Post this image to some professional photograpoher, tell him about your "intentions", and listen to what he/she has to say. Just try.
Cheers!

Yes Nick I agree with you is an special digital edition effect DRAGAN EFFECT (you can search it on Google...) And this is the image strong or hard sharpen, hard shadows and borders effect.- Of course is not a real image...its a view of this old man, for me more dramatic...I can tell you that the original photo was perfect...the light was soft but with contrast.- Although my personal vision was a hard dramatic image, Its a pity you can't see it on print in photo paper is amazing...Well my friend is a pleasure talk always with you...not only a good photographer a sensitive intelligent person (many of mine friends at USF think so) My best regards and cheers for you.- LUIS PS: You know what is a pity ???

The tonal range is indeed very good, Luis, and the timing was great for getting the best possible desicive moment. Especially the look of the old smoking man is strong and very expressive for such a portrait. The problem here seems to be the exaggerated sharpening with its typical groups of hard pixels - like for example on his left eye or on his beard hairs, or even stronger on the reflecting part at the right of his forehead. This was too much. A pity since the image was OK, I imagibe, before applying that overload of sharpening.
Cheers!
