City - Bearcamp Ridge State - OREGON Country - United States
About
One of my own favorites. It's a small, but old tree that sets atop a 5000 peak in southern Oregon, USA. I camped a mile from the peak and the weather was bad. Looked like a wasted trip because it rained heavily most of the night. That later became a blessing as discovered the next morning upon climbing the short trail up to this high meadow. The rain had washed the snow from this deformed little tree making for a one of a kind shot. It was taken on Kodachrome 64, a little bit underexposed and blueish. I converted it to a B/W image and darkened a few small patches of snow on the face of the tree, and removed a small distracting branch and a short stub in the lower area. Other than converting to black and white, this version and the original look nearly the same at a glance.
Thank you Ann. It's one of my favorites too because it's the kind of image that can't ever be re done. The weather conditions on the mountain that morning and me being there at just the right time were meant to be I guess. The location is 18 miles past Agness on Forest highway 23 which is also called Bear Camp Road. The elevation where the photo was taken is about 5000 feet. ...just in case anyone asks. ;) I doubt if the little tree is still standing. http://www.currypilot.com/Features/Features/EXPLORING-BEAR-CAMP-ROAD
