Thank-you for the feed back and your perspective. Also thanks for the advice I will keep that in mind when I'm shooting in the garden. This weekend since it is a full moon I have a few shots that I would like to try out...I have done a few test shots already, just been waiting for the full moom.
Great colours here, Chuck, and I like the selective focus! This is a big change in style for you, too. I like nice sharp flower shots for the most part, but a lot of others prefer the softer ones, I guess it's just a matter of personal taste. I think the main thing to go after is colour and composition, while using dof for the different effects, as you've done here. You've probably got other shots with more or less dof, and the focus on different parts of the scene. One thing you've really got to watch, especially for florals in the garden, is to get an uncluttered background, too. You're doing great in the new venture, go for it! Dave.
