About If I was asked to name my favourite castle in Scotland this would be it. The ruins themselves are not particularly impressive but oh my location, location, location.. I arrived on a stormy afternoon and stayed until quite late when honey coloured light pierced the clouds spotlighting the castle with acutely angled light.

NEW!! Photographic Workshops at TRANSIENT LIGHT.

Glad you enjoy it. I still have a love affair with film and presently see no real reason to change. The one thing I like about film over and above digital is that I have a reference...the tranny..to work towards. and consequently I don't have to rely on my memory of the event, the nature of Velvia film and its colour palette withstanding. My scanner is a Nikon 9000ED with glass carrier.

Magnificent locale and very well represented here with your great skills and gear. Love the colours and detail of the castle against the dark, deep coloured sky and sea.

A piece of art.

Hi Jerzy thanks for the suggestion I suspect there are a few crops that could be tried but on the whole I think I like the additional drama created by the vertiginous nature of the cliffs. I think it serves to emphasise the precarious nature of the castle's perch and the grandeur of the scene.

Aloha Ian,

It is so great a site but even more importantly in my opinion that there are at least a very few 'Die-Hard' Photographers out there still shooting film and Medium Format at that with that great big piece of heavy artillery your using!

Just wondering what your output is, (the scanner I mean)?

Best of Regards!
