About	During fieldwork last year (2007) I spent quite a while in the Karoo and never had the time to really do anything with the photos I took. This is one of a series which I will update over time. As in the Karoo itself, one needs space and time to contemplate on its expanse, beauty and impact on yourselve. So I would like to introduce you slowly over time to one of the most captivating areas of South Africa - so often overlooked by tourism in favour of the dramatic and immediate splendour of so many other beautiful sights here. The beauty of the Karoo lies deeper than the skin - it needs time spent there to appreciate the vast expanses, the colours, natural textures and contrasts and even more the people. The Karoo grows on you as you spend time there, I just hope my photographs can do some justice to the place.

Great shot Joggie with the highlights and dark background making for very difficult management. The highlights do seem almost burnt on theplumes but great nonetheless.

Impressive photo Joggie... all the money on the amazing contrast of the lighting on the plants against the darkness of the rocky cliff at the background... really the result is very amazing, that lighting conditions are 'wanted' from me... excellent!
