The coloring here reminds me of something like the dust of a piece of blue chalk that got stuck on the wall. I assume gain your typical extreme sharpening and enhancing of contours, that resulted in that rather rusty-metal-like look on the redish regions of the image.

Good abstract and I think it would be even more powerful on a huge poster format.
