P.S. Thanks also to Luis (rap concert?) and Sasha. I appreciate your comments.

Harry - I have found the higher ISO's (particularly with Nikon) to NOT be pleasant above 400. I underexposed this by close to a stop which means I could have shot it at ISO400 and gotten f4.5. To my eye, at 24mm there isn't much of a difference.

Thanks for having a comment related to how the image was shot. That doesn't happen a lot on critique forums.

Yaseed - Thanks, but the really amazing thing about this image is the place. I did manage to get this image without people in it. (which was no small feat; you have to work fast!)I could spend DAYS shooting in the opera house.

Thanks for commenting.

Drew my critic has nothing to do on a tripod, its all suggestions, I shot wide angle I shot in museums I know what it takes...next time considered the importance of aperture and higher ISO.

Tripods are NOT allowed. It forces one to be creative. The wide angle on the floor gives a wonderful point of view not normally seen.

Thanks for commenting.

Hi Drew, great work, love the B/W lights and textures, it seems your aperture and POV has limited this beautiful architecture and its elements, the arc's cut took out great portion of its aesthetic balance which is the key of this perspective!!!

Ah, I see ... I never thought of that, while the column is a distraction, the image does not seem off balance, which would mean it would, if the column were not there. Looks like you went into detail to get this image just right, and it worked out perfectly.

You are very welcome on the critique, I have come to learn and appreciate the detailed critiques I have received, versus the usual "Very nice/Well done/great shot/etc", that, while being nice to read, do not offer a person much to learn from, or for that matter much to really appreciate what another person seen in your image.

I worked on that column quite a bit and realized that is was important to leave it in. It turned out that (to my eye) the overall balance of the image needed it.

The exposure was purposely underexposed to get detail across the tonal range. This image has had about eight different layer adjustments to balance all the individual elements.

Thanks for offering such a thoughtful critique. I appreciate you looking so closely and responding so thoughtfully

Very nicely done interior, Drew, and good b/w tones!

Have seen any "rap" concerts there lately? What a beautiful place and so well captured. Congratulations.

That is a stunning image, in its depth of perspective, depth of detail and yet how the eye wants to return to the figure in the center, even though it is in shadow. Maybe some fill flash would have taken away the wonderful contrasts, but I would be curious to see what it would look like with enough light to just expose the statue for a little more detail. However, my two cents worth is that I think it would be a tad easier on the eye if it were a little more centered, only because the column on the left is a little distracting.

Excellent exposure in what must have been a difficult place for such a good exposure, with the candles and the shadows and the lights above the stairs ... very well balanced, well done.
