Thank you very much for the information, Shyamal! In such cases of course one just can't afford to make the right settings first. One has to shoot accepting some imperfections for the sake of the right moment, which you managed to get with a very nice sense for timing.

This is one of the hardest things to master, namely *when* to shoot. The photographer has to almost foresee what's coming next in order to determine the moment of a maximal interest. You did that perfectly.

Which could also mean that photography is a good exercise for developing prophetical properties! ;-)

Best wishes,

Nick

You are right, Nick, it was an opportunity that appeared. The bride was helping her mother steam her train (I think that's what its called) when I stepped in the door right at that position. I liked the shot, but as you mentioned, did not have time to set up perfectly. All I wanted was for the attention to go to the bride, not to the train or the background.

Thank you very much for your comment and observations.

A very original way to capture a special moment, Shyamal! Did you arrange that or was it only a shot out of the opportunity that appeared? (I have the impression that it was the latter.) The bride is captured in a very special moment - she seems to reflect on the new start, the future, the big change of life.

The nice white fabric is overexposed, though. It acts like a white region with not much detail, and I think it would have been very nice to see some more details there. I guess you just didn't have the time to set up everything perfectly and so you decided to accept some imperfections for the sake of capturing the moment? Or perhaps you had some special intention for that white region of the fabric? (an idea that I am not able to recognize?)

Best wishes,

Nick

I think the white has actually balanced the composition very well :) Well done ..

Thank you Ali, the composition was my gamble, that there may be too much white in the image.
