About Debbie and I hired a helicopter to get these shots of the Columbia Ice fields In Jasper Nat Park. We timed it for the sunrise by sleeping in the parking lot in order to be ready for the early lift off, hoping for a sky with broken clouds to maximize the lighting drama. We were lucky as the weather was perfect. The flight was the price of a new camera, but worth it in my mind as we got to see sights that you would never see otherwise....it was just stunning....I brought both of my D80 camera bodies, one with the 18-200mm lens and the other one with the 12-24mm lens. The flight was bumpy with lots of vibration and many of my shots were blurred or had the rotor blades in the shots. But by bracketing all my shots i usually got one out of three if i was lucky. The flight was 55 minutes in length and to short in my mind. I wish were were rich so that we could have been up there all day!

Beautiful! Was it through a window . . . if so, you're lucky that it was so clear. I had a similar flight in Eastern Europe once, but the windows were so fogged that I didn't really get anything worth while. But the experience was still amazing. Hope you will post more of these. -- Naomi

If you were able to do this on a regular basis Tim ($$$$), the experience wouldn't be "special". This is a super perspective. Truly a "once in a lifetime" opportunity. Consider yourselves fortunate to have had such a great experience....even just once. Splendid shot! Best regards, John
