Absolute cracker of a portrait this John (as are the others,b&w too). Would have liked a to have seen the eyes a tad sharper, but love it just the same 7+++++++++

Beautiful shot John. I love the defocused effect - I'm guessing as you used a wide angle lens that it is good editing to reduce the depth of field. If you want a really good portrait lens that gives a shallow depth you should buy an old minolta AF 50mm F1.7 lens. Equiv to 75mm on the 7D. You can't buy them new anymore but you can find them on ebay for between AU$80-$150 and they are as sharp as a tack. I have made enlargements from mine and you can count the eyelashes. I sold mine and bought a used 50mm f1.4 for AU$200 on ebay and they both give an attractive bokeh. Regards, Collin.
