About Since a previous shot received popular attention, I decided to include this shot taken at 30yds. (shooting at 400mm) while this idiot was 15ft away with a cameraphone. (I don't think the elk could believe it either...........)

HA! Oh Bill isn't that a fact! LOL Events such as this are treated like a Disney World attraction. There simply is nothing common about common sense. At this time of the season, these guys are the most dangerous creatures on the planet. I spent the better part of two hours watching a lone male constantly re-herd his harem of two dozen breeding females while an intruding stag bugled at a distance. The defending guardian of his herd will go without food and sleep in order to protect and keep his harem. Quite literally bugling barely audible calls to outsider stags anxious to divide his herd of females. It's a most amazing sight to behold. Once a defeated male loses dominance over the herd, he will attack just about anything (including bison!) or anybody as retribution.

I guess individuals such as this ensure the long term survival of our species by removing themselves from the gene pool in one way or another. Standing 15ft away from a stag & taking pics with the camera phone could serve the purpose:) I hope he's still alive and well.
PS. great shot! (yours, I mean:)

Hahaha. That's hilarious! When I first saw the shot, I was like, "aw man... what a missed opportunity." Then I read your comment!
