Eb - A great example that tele zooms are nice for "portrait" work. DOF is just about perfect. Colors abundant. Thse redheads are really photogenic!!

Thats exactly what I had in mind - darker would have dulled the appearance. Lovely photo! Joggie

Joggie, to cap our discussion, I'm attaching the adjusted image per your suggestion. I hope I have not been too subtle but I did want to preserve the general background tones. Thanks, again! Eb

Thanks for your helpful suggestion, Joggie! These are my grandchildren and it is therefore natural for the photographer to be less self-critical. Congratulations on your crtique being featured! Eb

Hi Eb - Its a fact - if you have a camera you will ake family portraits! With 3 such delightfull kids it must have been quite fun 9with some sweat I suppose). I think you did well on the composition, using the slope to give the shot a relaxed, less formal feel creating a natural diagonal (although it might be easier to keep the baby upright on a flat surface). If I could do something to improve it would be to darken the bark and the bright leaves in the background. Not totally but only enough to prevent it from drawing your focus. The rest, including the colour, the doll and the pumpkins are great ! Regrds. Joggie

My daughter did help, otherwise I would not have gotten as many exposures. It does take a number of shots before one gets them smiling in unison! Eb

heh heh, I bet they move pretty fast! You did a great job of getting them to pose and then capturing them, Eb. Looks like they had a good time too.

Thanks, Giuseppe - I would like to tell you that these are my three grandchildren (my daughter's children), 2 boys and a girl. The fourth, I suppose, could be a harbinger of my first great grandchild. Eb

You did a great job on the composition here, Eb! I don't know how you got them to sit still long enough! Great colours and expressions on the kids' faces, too. Dave.
