Deniz savaşının tüm şiddetiyle devam ettiği bir anda, vinci bozulan topun 275kg.lık mermisini,Tek başına kaldırarak topa yerleştirmiş ve sağ kalan arkadaşlarıyla birlikte ateş ederek Ocean Zırhlısının dümen tertibatına isabet kaydetmiştir.
